Celebrity Apprentice is always action-packed, because the already stressful "game" gets amped up with the built-in drama of celebrities, who really aren't just like us.

Since the girls' team has been kicking the guys' collective butts, it seemed like this week would be an easy win for the ladies.  However, Sharon Osbourne was sidelined with an illness she hasn't been able to shake and Cyndi Lauper jetted off to DC to meet with the pres, so the teams were temporarily at least, equal.

A fairly simple sounding task, make a 30 second commercial and a 10 second internet spot for Right Guard.  Things took a turn for the interesting when Bret Michael's daughter faced a diagnosis of diabetes. The rocker was moved to tears worrying about his little girl facing the very disease he is there fighting against. 

The teams managed to turn out passable commercials, and then in a totally unexpected twist, Michael Johnson, the Olympic runner, tells Trump he has to leave for “family reasons”.  Last week Darryl Strawberry basically quit, now this? Why are these athletes fleeing Trump’s domain?

Strawberry seemed more tired than anything, and didn’t avoid the trademark “You’re fired!”  as Johnson did.  Perhaps Johnson felt his stint on the show was nearing an end and wanted to escape on his own terms.  He mentioned a problem with his son and that it was both unavoidable and unforeseeable, though no clarification on what that is – legal? Illness?

The women lost, and Trump made it clear that he wouldn’t fire Lauper or Osbourne (though he repeatedly said “as long as you believe she’s really sick” and wondered if her illness was her way of escaping the show). Project manager Holly Peete Robinson decided to bring Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks and WWE girl Maria Kanellis back to the boardroom and Trump fired Ebanks, even though Robinson seemd to be throwing Kanellis under the bus.   Was it a “better TV” decision, because Kanellis is definitely more likely to start some sparks in future episodes, especially since now she knows Robinson is willing to ditch her?  Only time will tell as the divas battle it out.

SO - goodbye to Johnson and Ebanks, keep an eye out to see if Osbourne is allowed back and/or gets tossed by her teammates if they lose, and we'll see if Michaels can stick around during his own sick-kid drama.  Never a dull moment!
